Salam, I’m Laith (he/him)—a clinical counselling practicum student therapist in Vancouver completing supervised training with Clayre Sessoms Psychotherapy (starting May 1, 2026). My path into counselling comes through education, refugee and resettlement services, and community-based care, alongside lived experience as someone from a marginalized population. I’ve had the honour of supporting refugees, diverse families, and LGBTQIA2S+ communities, including through peer support work with local healthcare providers.

Through this work, I’ve seen how much strength, creativity, and care people carry—sometimes while living through profound loss, disruption, or ongoing uncertainty. My intention is to create a space where you feel genuinely welcomed and supported, without needing to explain or translate yourself.

My counselling approach is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and cultural humility. I work relationally and collaboratively, and I hold deep respect for the ways you’ve learned to cope and survive. I draw from person-centred care, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused approaches, and I’m beginning to integrate trauma-informed practice through clinical supervision with Laura Hoge, RSW, LCSW.

I also bring an experiential and creative lens. Alongside conversation, I may invite reflection through imagery, metaphor, or gentle experimentation—always at your pace and with your consent. My background in sports, coaching, performance, and writing informs how I think about movement, story, and expression as pathways toward clarity and connection.

I offer low-barrier counselling for adults and older teens (16+) navigating identity questions, relationships, resettlement, and life transitions. I also offer counselling in Arabic for clients in Canada who feel more at ease working in their first language.
